"Safe?... Who said anything about safe? 'course he isn't safe. But he's good. He's the King I tell you."

The Chronicles of Narnia, a series full of adventure and life, that makes us see the beauty of death in the end; while giving us a glimpse of the beauty of God along the way. No one ever expects for a fantastical series to draw them closer to God, no one expects it to take away your fear, and make you see the light and wonder in the world. However; this is exactly what this series does, and it’s as simple as walking into a wardrobe, putting on a ring, or being pulled into the beauty of a painting

I have been trying to find the meaning of The Chronicles of Narnia for a while now, and little did I know, the answer was all around me. One day, I found myself picking up the Commonplace book I used while reading the Chronicles of Narnia, and I found the answer, it was right there, in front of me, behind me, and all around me. That answer is God's love.

In the last book in the Narnia series, Aslan (which means lion in turkish) says these words, "I am, but there I have another name. You must learn to know me by that name. This was the very reason why you were brought to Narnia, that by knowing me here for a little, you may know me better there." Aslan is the lion. He represents Jesus, throughout the whole series. He sacrifices himself, guides his people through the desert, and at the end of the series he destroys "Old Narnia" and creates "New Narnia" where they soar on wings like eagles; they run and don't grow weary, and they walk and will not be faint

There are so many books we read, and we wish they were real. The beautiful thing about this one, is that it is real. God's love is real, and it's constantly surrounding us. Aslan brought the Pevensies to Narnia to teach them about who he is, and God does the same with us, he puts us in certain places in our life to draw us closer to him. This book made me see God in a way I had never seen before and I will be forever grateful for that.

In the third book in the series, The Horse and His Boy, the main character Shasta is alone at night, in the desert. He's scared because there is a legend of ghosts in the tombs, coming out at night and haunting the travelers, but as he's scared and shaking, what he believes is a small cat, comes up to him and protects him, and allows Shasta to lay his head on him as he goes to sleep. This is an example showing us that even if we're scared, lost in the dark, and can't see God, he's still there.

In the Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Prince Caspian, Edmund, and Lucy find themselves going into a dark forest, which makes dreams come true… any dreams. So as everyone grows fearful, Lucy cries out to Aslan saying "Aslan, Aslan, if you ever loved us at all, send us help now." then we are told that "The darkness did not grow any less, but she began to feel a little - a very, very little-better." After this, they stayed in the darkness for a while longer, then they were saved. This shows us that even though we may have to endure, and it might seem like the end, God is still there, and he always will be.

This book, thinking about it, or reading it, just makes me understand God's love for me. It shows me that if I take a second, and stop focusing on all the anxiety and stress I have, I can find that even if I'm scared in a desert, if I have turned away from him, and if my darkest nightmare seems to be coming true, God's love is still there. Even though I don't deserve it.

When I started his book, I wanted it to be real, but I thought it was too good to be true, but then I realized that it is true and it always will be. C.S. Lewis used The Chronicles of Narnia to tell the story of the God in a way that everyone can grasp and understand, he did it, not knowing how many lives it would touch, including mine. I believe the Chronicles of Narnia is about God's love, the love that is always there. No matter where we are, or what we do. God's love is and will always be there, and we can find joy because of that.
