Apology and Plea For The New Year

We've lived with shame, with guilt, with fear.
We've spurned the God who holds us dear.
How stained and tainted is the year
which now draws to a close. We've also laughed and loved, revered
Our Lord, though brokenly, cohered
Deep truths, breath-taking beauty, cleared
Our tasks, enjoyed repose. God, let the latter prosper And the former disappear!
